Mobbeel Signature Technology

Handwritten signature recognition technology

Handwritten signature recognition is a widely accepted method to prove an individual identity. It is easy to use and has a high degree of acceptance by users. However it is not as reliable as iris recognition, but it does allow for greater versatility.

You can test this technology with BioWallet Signature, a free password and sensitive information manager that uses it as the access method.

Handwritten signature recognition

There are two different approaches for signature recognition: offline recognition, which is based on analysing the outcome of the signature, in other words, analysing an image statically; and online recognition, which is based on how the signature is made.

As shown in the diagram, handwritten signature recognition is classified among biometric technologies that make use of the behaviour characteristics of an individual, unlike iris recognition.

Mobbeel Technology

Mobbeel has chosen the online recognition model as the fundamental approach in the development of this technology.

Our implementation of the online model is much more reliable than the offline model, since it is not only based on the final result of the signature but also the behaviour patterns of the signature itself (strokes, speed, pressure, time, etc). This significantly raises the level of security and reduces the chances of forgery.

It works with the vast majority of touch screens and adapts to individual handset characteristics, being a highly configurable technology.

As with iris recognition, the technology works perfectly isolated on a mobile device, performing the capture, processing and identification independently. It is also suited to a client/server architecture where the device just captures the signature and sends it to the server, through a secure channel, for the enrollment or identification process.

Security

Mobbeel applies the same approach regarding the user's security and privacy in all of its technologies. For that reason, handwritten signature recognition uses biometric encryption techniques, similar to the ones used by the iris technology, but specially adapted to the signature's needs.

API

Mobbeel handwritten signature recognition technology can be integrated with others systems or third-party applications using its API (Application Programming Interface)
