During this event, participante should shortly explain their business idea to the jury. Our projecto was finalist in the ‘Best mobile development’ category along with the ‘Utopia’ zafrense company for its project ‘Geociudad.com’ and also with ‘Red EberSalud’ with its ‘Calculation of Cardiovascular Risk’. After deliberation, the jury named us winners for our biometric security solution for smartphones. Garage 2.0 Biometric Access Control Project

Tags: , , , ,

Mobbeel is proud of participating along with Caceres City Council on the Garage 2.0 Biometric security project. Moreover, we apreciate the City Council’s firm commitment to innovation and development as the way forward.

The project consists of adding a biometric access control system to six rooms of the Garage 2.0 Innovation Factory.

That access control is based on the use of smartphones and biometric recognition technology developed by Mobbeel that allows to identify people from unique features, such as iris or handwritten signature. The system verifies the identity of the Garage 2.0 users, and in case of being authorized, it allows the access to the rooms that are part of the project.

How does it work?
Once the project is over, The Garage 2.0 users can access to the rooms that they have been authorized to, using their smartphone as if it were a key. They only need to get closer to the room they want to access. Once there and using the application specially designed for smartphones, the user verifies its identity. Furthermore, If the system checks that the user have access to that room, the smartphone will securely and wirelessly communicate with the door and allow access.

There are several advantages:

No more keys, now you are the key.
The need of physical distribution of keys is removed. If the Garage 2.0 user has an smartphone supported by the system, he can use it to access to the rooms in which has been authorized. In case of not having a supported device, Garage 2.0 will make available several supported terminals to the users.

Even if the smartphone is stolen or lost, no one without authorization can access to that rooms thanks to the biometric recognition technology.

Three levels of security
- Something you only know: the specific access code of the room you want to access.
- Something you only own: the mobile device with the access application installed.
- Something you only are: You only have access to the room through your iris or your handwritten signature.

Mobbeel integrates biometric iris recognition in Bankinter’s mobile brokerage application

Tags: , , ,

Mobbeel Bankinter

On June 15, Bankinter and Mobbeel jointly presented its’s groundbreaking broker application for mobiles, an application that identifies the client by using a biometric iris recognition system (developed by Mobbeel).

This unique technology allows clients to access their brokerage accounts on their smartphones through an iris recognition system which requires only the use of the smartphone’s camara, without the need for additional hardware or external sensors. This new technology is an important step forward when compared to traditional username plus password identification and authentication protocols.

Iris recognition is the most reliable form of biometric recognition, as it is practically impossible to find two identical irises, and thus offering an extremely high degree of security. This security, together with a simplified user experience, makes for the technology to be an ideal solution for mobile financial services and mobile investment brokerage solutions.

Generally speaking, iris recognition works in the following manner: Upon capturing a close-up image of the face, the application isolates the eye and proceeds to identify the exterior and interior borders of the iris, codifying these through complex imagery treatment algorithms. The entire process for recognizing the iris is performed on the mobile device, from the image capture of the iris, to biometric pattern identification and user matching and identification.

Bankinter is the first bank to use this technology, which in its initial phase has been deployed onto iPhone 4 given the significant penetration of these smartphones amongst its customer base: 55% of Bankinter’s mobile banking customers have an iPhone.

In the following phase, and depending on technology acceptance by users and rendering in terms of usability and security, Bankinter does not rule out using this same technology for other digital remote channels: ATMs, Telephone Banking, Internet Banking, etc.

This pioneering application in Spain is a significant advancement in the value-added mobile banking services that Bankinter has implemented over the years for its customers, such as the possibility of accessing accounts, engaging in financial transactions and real-time trading, or advanced functionalities such as geo-location through augmented reality.
